Terms of Use

Welcome to Gedam. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Gedam mobile app and the gedam.app website (together, the "Service"), operated by Wole Holdings LLC (Missouri, USA) ("we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The Service
Gedam is a devotional companion for Ethiopian and Oriental Orthodox Christians: a liturgical calendar, an offline Bible, prayers, the lives of the saints, and devotional habit tracking. It is a companion to the life of the Church, not a substitute for the Church, her sacraments, or her clergy.
Devotional content
We take great care that liturgical and devotional content is drawn from cited, validated sources and presented faithfully to each tradition. Even so, content is provided for personal devotional use and may contain errors or simplifications. It is not an official liturgical book of any church. If you find an error, please tell us and we will correct it. For authoritative practice, follow your own parish and spiritual father.
Who may use Gedam
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or to use features that collect personal information (such as cloud sync or the AI reflections). Gedam is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information — though younger children are warmly welcome to use the devotional content on a parent's or guardian's device, under their supervision. The AI reflections rely on a third-party AI provider whose own terms require users to be adults (18 or older).
Accounts
An account is optional. You may use the core of Gedam fully offline without one. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under it. You may delete your account and its synced data at any time from within the app, or by emailing us.
Gedam+ subscriptions
Gedam+ is an optional paid plan. Monthly and yearly plans are auto-renewing subscriptions; the lifetime option is a one-time purchase. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store and governed by Apple's terms in addition to these. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel in your device's account settings. The devotional core of Gedam remains free; Gedam+ never gates a prayer, reading, fast, or saint. See our Gedam+ page for current pricing and full subscription terms.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:
- copy, redistribute, or resell the Service or its content except as the source licenses allow;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data;
- use the Service unlawfully or to infringe the rights of others.
Intellectual property
The Gedam name, design, original text, and software are owned by Wole Holdings LLC. Scripture, liturgical texts, and saints' lives are drawn from public-domain editions or used with attribution; these belong to their respective sources, credited on our Sources page. Your own notes and highlights remain yours.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wole Holdings LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
